LoLBoost Q and A
Questions answered by Challenger Player.
We recently posted on our Facebook an open Q and A where people could ask questions about League of Legends and have a challenger player answer. Here are the results:
Q. What are the most common bans in 5v5?
A. It depends on the level you are playing on. My team is in Challenger and the most common bans for us are Rek Sai, Zed, Irelia, Kalista, Leblanc and Ekko.
Q. Would you recommend tanky top or support (And which champs)?
A. I would recommend whatever fits your playstyle the best. Any role can carry, but it is easier to carry with an independent champion. So basically someone who can initiate and deal dps at the same time. A supportive Champion like Janna or Thresh can be good picks, but you must play them correctly and they are much more team dependent than other supports as they need to follow up once you land a skillshot.
However with someone like Annie you can just do the job yourself. I would recommend something like Annie in lower elo (below plat), as you won’t have to rely on your teammates as much and you can both have a huge initiate with damage and a stun as well as follow up with enough burst to burst down at least one champion.
As for toplane something that is both tanky and can carry is great. Darius can be amazing if you know how to play him, he can be built extremely tanky while still doling out very high dps. Keep in mind though that Darius will most likely be countered and wrecked in higher elo. Gnar is also someone who can deal a lot of damage while still being very tanky.
Q. Well, I have a question about Plat elo, there is any common stuff which can help me carry 1-2 feeder (1-13 adc for example). I play mid lane, mostly Varus,Rek'sai (ad),Ryze, Cass, Kassa,Vel'koz and Cho'gath, in most of the times i win my 1v1 but at 6-7 min the enemy bot lane is already ahead with 3-4-5 kills. What tip do u have for this situation?
A. If you want to wreck enemy botlanes I do recommend a midlaner who is much more mobile and unpredictable than a Cho gath or Varus. Varus is great to poke and even in a 1v1 he can be pretty scary, but you wont be able to do much once your opposing team has several threats. Someone like Cho gath can be counterd fairly easy, especially with someone mobile like Kalista. Try catching her with a Cho or RekSai without using your flash.
I would considering something like Ahri, Leblanc, Ekko or zed. They are all highly mobile assassins with great damage output and can pretty much burst the enemy adc or support by themselves. Assassins are great to carry in almost any situation, especially from midlane as you can roam both bot and top and help out your team.
Q. I often play Varus mid, but i feel that i lack something to win games, i have good dmg, have nice ults but cant carry alone. Could u write a small guide to him?And what do you think about Essence Reaver on him? With LW,Muramana and Lucidty and ghost blade?
A. Someone is in the process of making a varus guide for lolboost, you can take a look and buy it once it is published. As for Essence Reaver it depends on the situation. BT or Infinity Edge gives you more useful stats and with scaling CDr runes and the CDr boots you will easily get 30% so Essence Reaver is not really needed. If you want to build in a way that he can poke and shred armor, then I recommend: Muramana, Last Whisper, Brutaliser, Lucidity. However, in addition to those items I am usually going for IE as I feel like only poking skills do not help during late game. I do not like Black leaver or Essence Reaver on him. Reaver does give you lifesteal, CDR and dmg. But lifesteal only works out if you manage to autoattack alot at all (which you are not doing with the mentioned items). And you should have enough manareg from your muramana already. So Reaver basically only gives you cdr and you already have that from your runes and boots.
Q. How does rengar contend in the current meta? Is he a viable means to carry the team at gold Elo? If so, is top or jungle a better role to do so?
A. I do prefer toplane Rengar, I think he has more carry potential. You will always expect a Jungle rengar, but you wont expect a TP homeguards toplane rengar with even more gold. The gold potential makes him an excellent carry killer and with the TP he can come botlane early one for some extra kills.
