Positioning for all roles

Positioning is one of the main things to consider whether practicing in normal games or trying your best to suceed in Soloqueue. Having a good positioning differs when playing different roles

 

Playing as a tank/disruptor/initiator : Playing as a tank gives you the duty to soak up damage while your team deals damage. Distracting their main carries away from dealing damage to your team. Playing disrupting tanks such as Zac, Elise or Malphite work the best against champions without an innate escape I.E : Lux, Miss Fortune, Draven , Jinx..Your goal is to stay in the frontline whilst building tanky items

Be careful because tanks fall off later in the game if you do not build damage.

 

Playing as an AD Carry(marksman) : Playing the role of the marksman requires you to dish out damage to the closest enemy or if possible , to the main targets.

Playing against tanks who can drag you off of the fight might seem hard if you are playing carries without an escape. Against the formerly spoken (Malphite, Zac, Elise) your job is to stay extra careful of their disruption spells by flashing away or staying in the back line. There are games that cannot be won , but improving your positioning makes these games occur less often. For safer laning I suggest playing Ezreal , Lucian or Draven. They can engage, run away, poke and beat most of the lane matchups thrown at them, but it solely depends on the comfort zones of the player.

 

Playing as an Ability Power carry : Playing middle lane as an Ability Power carry has a lot of perks. They deal magic damage, which makes opponents waste money by making them build magic resist items, and they can blow up main targets with relative ease. Most of mid laners are very squishy , making them an easy target for a combo of chain crowd control(CC).Your job is to assasinate a target or do the same thing as a  Marksman ; stay in the back and wait for an opportunity. If you get ahead as an Ability Power carry, it gives you the opportunity to be one of the frontline champions, to burst a target within seconds. I suggest starting off easy with champions which give you the opportunity to help your team, and to assasinate a target quickly. Champions who I recommend for  ability power carries are : Lux, Orianna, Kassadin and Fizz. Their playstyle differs, since every champion has it's weaknesses and strengths (Pros and cons).

 

Playing as an assasin :  Playing assasins is a hard job . Your goal is to stay in the frontline while building damage ( it makes you really squishy ). Assasins such as Talon, Zed, Fizz and Kassadin are between Tier 1 and Tier 2 . The scaling on assasins is very moderate, some have early to mid game pressure while having a lot of damage during end game too, and some have late game carry potential while being able to one–shot a target (Fizz). Assasins are probably the hardest champions to take into consideration of maining, since their carry potential depends on how well the player can execute a target.

 

Playing as a support: Supports are mainly played in the bot lane providing help, health and protection to their Marksmen. Supports job is to ward the map ( Other players should do it too!), and provide map control during the entire game . As of the recent patch ( Patch 3.14- The Pi patch) some supports have had a lot of changes, some becoming more viable , and some falling out of the meta. Supports like Annie, Leona and Taric are currently classified as Tier 1 support, providing damage and / or protection, even though players usually build damage on them nowadays. Your positioning is not as required as when playing a Marksman or a Mid lane carry, but there are players who have amazing positioning and who makes a huge difference to his team in team fights, like MadLife.

 

Playing as a jungler: Junglers are champions similiar to tanks, their job is to stay in the front line and deal damage/tank as much as possible while providing free damage to your carries and protecting them from theirs.

Junglers have recieved new item builds and numerous changes, having some be stronger than the rest.

Jungler's job is to provide constant help to lanes, especially to those who are doing worse than the rest of the team, or to make sure a lane is won by constantly going to the lane (Camping). Starting route should be : Blue buff, wolf camp, red buff – gank, Red buff, wraiths, Blue buff gank. You can farm the jungle if your team is not doing so well,or, especially if your team is doing well, you can shove a lane and push for the turret!
