Season 7 Ranked Queue Types in League of Legends
Pre-Season has brough many changes to League of Legends, one of the biggest being the comeback of the Solo/Duo Queue, the removal of Draft (from some regions) and the change from Dynamic to Flex Queue. If you are wondering what this will mean for you, your ranked rewards and the choices you should make in Ranked next season I suggest you read this article. Here you will find a useful information about each queue type and the reasons why you might want to rank up during pre-season in both queues.
If you are here to learn the best way to utilize the new queues and how to get the best rewards for season 7, skip the Normal Draft Information and go straight for the Solo/Duo Queue and Flex Queue paragraphs.
Normal Draft - LoL Queues Season 7
Normal Draft will be retired at the start of preseason for all regions except North America, Europe West, and Brazil. Riot’s goal is to offer fewer number of queues, and have each queue provide a unique experience in an effort to keep the queues as healthy as possible, while at the same time keeping disruption low. Queue health refers to how long it takes on average to get a game going. Bad queue health means that in some ranks or at some times during the day, it takes too long to get a game and you are stuck waiting for the queue to pop for more than 5 minutes.
In all regions except NA/EUW/BR, normal draft had very low participation in season 6, leaving the other regions with poor queue health with too long queue times. Riots goal is to retire normal draft in all regions. Riot feels if you want the unique experience of draft pick, you can find that by playing ranked instead.
LoLBoost's opinion is that this change is pretty horrible for people who want to try out new builds/champions without having to go straight into ranked. Right now, if someone wants to test a new build or a new way of playing, they will go into a normal draft game where it simulates the ban/pick phase and the people who play there have decided on roles. Riot may feel that with the addition of the new practice mode people will no longer need to test new things in Draft Mode, but they are forgetting that the best practice is playing against other people, not against bots, and that some players are not comfortable playing ranked until they have had some practice with their new strategy/champion/playstyle.
Hopefully Riot will reconsider this and update “Blind pick” before completely removing Normal Draft from smaller regions.
Solo / Duo Queue - League of Legends Ranked in Season 7
Solo Queue - This long awaited queue finally makes its return to glory. Queue up alone or with a friend or teammate and get to climbing. Tier restrictions still applies in this queue, and Challenger is still limited to solo players only, but we don't care. We are just glad to have our old queue back, where you can really match your skills up against other players without worrying about running into 5 man stacks.
When Solo/Duo is released in pre-season (should be sometime this week) you will most likely continue from your season 6 rank and have the opportunity to keep climbing as high as possible before season 7 starts in December. It is important to remember that all your rank increase during pre-season will affect your placements for season 7. If you want to start next season off with a bang, you need to get the highest possible rank before pre-season ends. Keep in mind, Riot has announced that there will be a soft reset before season 7 where "the vast majority of players will begin their climb lower even if they win all their placements". Because of this, you need a higher than normal pre-season rank if you want to get back to your season 6 rank (or higher) when season 7 starts.
Either buckle down and farm out those games until you have climbed a few divisions, or use our boosting services to rank up during pre-season. If you play your cards right, you may be able to start off in Platinum I after your placements, and, if you keep winning after, then you will be able to start skipping divisions, gaining big amounts of LP and climbing even faster. If you buy your placements with LoLBoost.net you will get 8/10 wins MINIMUM and get a great start to the new season! You need diamond IV or higher during pre-season and at least 8/10 wins for your season 7 placements to start off at the highest rank with the best MMR possible.
Flex Queue - Season 7 Ranked Queue in LoL
Flex Queue is the ranked queue that rewards more organized teamplay, allowing one, two, three, or five players (within one tier of each other) to queue up together. Due to the possibility of the majority of the "single players" choosing Solo/Duo over Flex, Riot has disabled 4 man queue (imagine you and your 3 friends are trying to get a match, but there are no single players who can join your 4man stack and you are in queue for 1 hour before giving up). Riot has additional plans for Flex to evolve based on queue health (for example, they may turn 4s back on if enough solos are queueing up), but for now there isn't much information about the future of Flex.
One very important fact to note: Riot desperately wants Flex to succeed. The whole reason they removed Solo / Duo for season 6 was so they could implement Dynamic - a queue type that rewarded teams, not individual players. Riot dreams of the day where LoL becomes a game that focuses solely on Team Play - this is one of the reasons why they keep nerfing one-shot-assassins - and where no one can kill anyone else without the help of their whole team (a slight exaggeration, but if you have been following the game for the last 7 years, you understand what we are talking about). Because of this, Riot is trying to lure as many players as possible into playing Flex, starting with the IP boost for your first few Flex games. Because of this, they are also introducing a special reward (most likely a skin) that will ONLY be rewarded to players who reach gold V or higher in BOTH Flex and Solo/Duo Queue. It is entirely possible they will introduce even more rewards to this queue, anything to get as many players as possible to use it.
If you want to get the best rewards for season 7 - and as many as possible - you will play both queues and get as high a ranking as possible in both Flex Queue and Solo / Duo queue. It is also worth noting that if you want to go pro at the game, you will need a high solo rating as well as a good rating in Flex. Flex can be considered the new “normal draft/team ranked” queue. It will be the almost-perfect environment for people/friends to practice if we exclude the fact that there are tier restrictions. During the preseason you have to play 10 calibration games before you are ranked in Flex, but fear not, LoLBoost can do the placement games for you, just order it on our Boosting Page. After your placement games you can play ranked as normal in Flex and climb during pre-season for a better seeding during season 7.
Final notes on Season 7 Ranked Queue's in LoL - What should you do?
The start of season is a time to earn your rank on the ladder. You will be placed lower than where you ended the 2016 season, as a ladder reset means the highest possible rank anyone can land after placement games is Platinum I, which moves all of the ranks down. This also means if you end preseason at gold V, you will likely place somewhere in silver unless you have very good placement games when season 7 starts in December.
You absolutely should play your ladder calibration games for Flex during preseason. The higher rank you achieve now, the higher rank you will start out with in season 7. Remember, it is easier to climb in pre-season and it is much easier to climb with good placement games than it is to farm 10 divisions because you placed too low. Riot will be doing a soft ranked reset at the start of the season, which means your games during the preseason will have an impact on where you place at the start of the new season in League of Legends.
Just in order to make it clearer for those who fear playing during preseason or see no point in it, listen to this story from Scairtin (a guide writer at LoLBoost): "During the last month of the season I started playing on an account I was boosting from gold. It barely had any games and I maintained a steady 75-80% win rate, but even with this sort of win rate, the LP gain was pretty low and I barely skipped any divisions because all the groups were already flooded with tons of players. When the account was Diamond 3 and I was playing in D3 with 75% winrate, I was receiving only around 20 LP per win, which was really low considering the amount of wins compared to loses I had. Now in order to put in retrospective, if I had started playing on the account during the start of the season, I would have been Master or Challenger pretty easily with the same amount of games, why…you might ask, well it is pretty simple. When there are no players on the ladder, all the “new” players who join the groups/divisions have pretty high LP gains making it pretty easy to climb on the ladder so if you get a better start to a new season, you will have an easier time ranking up to Master/Challenger."
Scairtins experience affects both solo/duo queue and flex queue so our suggestion to you is to play as much as you can during pre-season to improve your ranking or order a flex or solo/duo boost from our website lolboost.net - we have special discounts during the preseason and our aim is to make it easier for you to play during the start of the new season. During every preseason we have special offers and discounts for our most loyal clientele, so feel free to contact us and we’ll make sure you get a better start next season! Get your flex placement games done now, get your solo / duo rank increased during pre-season and get your placements with both flex and solo/duo with LoLBoost.net when season 7 starts.
